Version 1.6e
- Bug Fix: If the last macro run was aborted for any reason then the "Wait For Window Title" macros
would no longer launch until another macro was run successfully without an abort.
Version 1.6i
- Modified the tab order on the main screen when using the "Lettered Buttons" option.
- Bug Fix: When using the SYSTEM hot key for capturing a macro, you would not be able to
play back the new macro immediately. A change to any macro in the Macro Editor would first
have to take place (or a restart of Macro Express) before the recorded macro would execute.
Version 1.6h
- Bug Fix: If Macro Express was set to not run the editor on startup, then any keyboard remappings
that were set would not work until the editor had been opened at least once.
- Bug Fix: A popup menu macro could not be launched from a command line parameter if Macro
Express was not alreay running.
- Bug Fix: The checkbox to turn off displaying the "First Use" Wizard would not
be recognized unless the wizard was completed to the end.
- Bug Fix: The quick wizards ask if you want to add the macro you are creating to a popup
menu (if you have any popup menus created). Selecting yes did not add the macro to the popup
menu.
- Bug Fix: It was possible to "copy" or "move" a popup menu macro to
a macro that was not activated by a Hot Key. This should not have been possible.
Version 1.6g
- Bug Fix: It was possible to get a "Read Beyond End of File" message when removing (deleting) a
"popup menu" macro.
- Bug Fix: If the last macro run was aborted for any reason then the timed macros would no longer launch
until another macro was run successfully that did not abort.
Version 1.6f
- Bug Fix: Using the "Remap" feature to remap a key would generate an I/O Error.
However, the remapping would still occur. This error was introduced with version 1.6.
- Cleaned up some duplicate accelerator keys on a couple of screens and also corrected a
couple of misspellings.
- Added the ability to specify the initial state of a window (Normal, Minimized or Maximized)
when launching a program.
Version 1.6e
- An option was created (under the "Tools" menu) that will patch the
Windows registry to allow the desktop functions such as MinimizeAll, Running Dialogs, Opening
Explorer to Network Neighborhood, etc. to work. These functions may have no longer worked
due to an incomplete installation of Internet Explorer 5.0.
- Macro Express could no longer recognize keystrokes sent by other programs (i.e. those not
directly pressed on the keyboard) due to a change in v1.6c. These should all be recognized
again (excluding the WIN key).
Version 1.6d
- It is possible for some installations of Internet Explorer 5.0 to cause certain
"Desktop" functions in Macro Express to no longer work. These include desktop
functions such as MinimizeAll, Running Dialogs, Opening Explorer to Network Neighborhood,
etc. When this error occurred, the Macro Express player would freeze and no longer work
until shut down and rerun. Version 1.6d corrects the problem of Macro Express freezing
up. An error message will now be displayed indicating that the function is not available.
We are still investigating the Internet Explorer 5.0 issue and plan to have a fix shortly.
Version 1.6c
- Made change where Macro Express will create anew default macro file if the
last macro file used no longer exists. This condition would normally only occur in the
rare situations where Macro Express is uninstalled and then reinstalled into a different
folder. This change will prevent an error from occurring in this situation.
- Added better handling of "Dead Keys" with use of ShortKeys.
- Added option to the installer to choose components to install.
- Bug Fix: When using a "Repeat Prompt" command, the repeat counter start and repeat
counter step should both be set to 1 as a defaults, but were uninitialized and could be any
value. This made use of the "Repeat Counter" variable option unreliable if the
repeat started with a Repeat Prompt.
- Bug Fix: The Macro Scripting Editor was not properly handling a negative coordinate for
a window positioning command. Any negative coordinates would end up as zero.
- Bug Fix: It was possible for "Hot Keys" to stop working in an application under
the following circumstances: If the Windows Key was pressed to bring up the Start Menu and
then focus was immediately given to an application by clicking on the application. In this
situation, internally to Macro Express, it would appear that the Windows Key was still being
held down for this application only. Because of this, Hot Keys not using the Windows key
would no longer work in the application until the Windows key had been used in the application
again.
Version 1.6b
- Added Global ShortKey option of "Retype Suffix Key" when using the
Suffix Key option. Retyping the suffix key after the ShortKey played back its macro was
the only way it worked starting with version 1.6. This option allows you to turn this off.
- The size and position of the Macro Express editor is remembered from run to run. Logic
was added to self correct these "remembered" values if they ever became corrupt
where the position would put the editor off the screen or the size would be set to zero or
less. In this situation, it would appear that the editor was not running.
- Changed the default setting (first time run of program) for the Macro Express player to
reside in the System Tray. It was set for "completely hide" mode.
Version 1.6a
- Bug Fix: It was sometimes possible (starting with v1.6) for the "Macro
Player" to have an I/O error when completing a macro capture where the capture was
*started* from within the "Macro Editor".
- Bug Fix: If capturing a macro and you have the option set to *not* capture keystrokes,
then the hot keys to terminate the capture would not work.
- Bug Fix: The "Go To CD Track" option was not working correctly.
Version 1.6
- Split the program into 2 pieces. Now there is a macro player and a macro editor.
It is no longer necessary to have the editor running just to run macros you have already
created.
- Added a new System Hot Key which terminates Macro Express. This was required since the
new player portion of Macro Express can be set to be completely hidden leaving no way to
terminate the player portion.
- Added an optional "category" section where each macro can be assigned to a category.
The category option can be turned on via the "Appearance" window. The category
column appears on the left side of the Macro Express screen. Here you can add, delete and
rename categories. Macros can be dragged to a category or set to a category via the menu.
Selecting on a category in the category list will display only those macros assigned to that
category.
- New E-Mail option includes
- Built-in E-Mail Address List -- Save your e-mail addresses for easy retrieval
- Ability to choose one or multiple recipients
- Ability to choose one or multiple CC (carbon copy)
- Ability to choose one or multiple BCC (blind carbon copy)
- Ability to choose recipients, CC and BCC at macro design time or at macro run time
- Ability to have the text body of the message:
- created at macro design time
- inputed at macro run time
- created from the text contents of the clipboard (i.e. easily copy something to
the clipboard and hit a hot key to send it to someone)
- created from the cntents of a text file.
- Ability to request return receipt
- Ability to choose one or more attachments at macro design time or at macro run time.
- E-Mail Wizard to prompt you for all options including optional Dial-Up Networking connection.
- Added the ability to keep a log of all E-Mail sent. Log File path and name can be set
by user. List of all e-mails sent (those that were logged) can be browsed in a list box
showing who the message was sent to, what day and time, the subject of the message and
if the message had any attachments, was carbon copied or blind carbon copied. Double
clicking on an entry will display the email message sent including all recipients and
all attachment file names.
- Expanded Bitmap to Clipboard command to also allow JPEG (*.JPG) and Windows Metafiles (*.WMF)
to be copied to the clipboard.
- Added option to print the "Scripting Editor" contents.
- Encrypted Text option. Playback text option where the text is encrypted to the user of
the program. Useful for passwords and the like so that people snooping through the program
cannot uncover passwords.
- Status Window now appears when attempting a Dial-Up Network connection.
- A complete list of dial-up networking (RAS) errors is now available (about 150). If a dial-up
networking connection fails, a brief explanation will now be given instead of just a numeric
error code.
- Added new clipboard command to save the text contents of the clipboard to a text file.
The text file name can optionally be prompted for at the time the macro is run.
- Added new clipboard command to append the text contents of the clipboard to a text file.
The text file name can optionally be prompted for at the time the macro is run.
- Added new clipboard command to save the graphic contents of the clipboard to either a bitmap
(*.BMP) or JPEG (*.JPG) file. The graphic file name can optionally be prompted for at the
time the macro is run.
- Add the ability to save the contents of a macro directly to a text file in the Modify Macro
Directly Editor Window.
- Add the ability to load in a macro from a text file in the Modify Macro Directly Editor
Window.
- Added an option to turn off sound effects which can be found under the "Options |
Settings" menu option. Currently it only affects the sound made when dragging a macro
to a category.
- In the Scripting Editor Window: When adding items to the script using the drop down menu,
you can now specify if you want that command to be added before the current highlighted command,
after it or at the end of the macro script.
- Added "Tools" menu option to the system tray icon popup menu. Tools menu option
includes "Restore Keyboard and Mouse Hooks" and "Launch Mouse Locator"
menu options.
- Added an "Auto Restore Keyboard Hooks" option to the "Options | Settings"
menu command. This feature when enabled, will automatically attempt to have Macro Express
re-assert itself as the first program to take a look at the keystrokes passed through the
Windows system wide keyboard hooks when other programs are loaded that use these keyboard
hooks. Normally this is not a problem unless a program is run *after* Macro Express AND it
uses the keyboard hooks AND it places itself there in an improper fashion. When this occurs,
keystrokes are no longer passed onto Macro Express and the Macro Express Hot Keys and ShortKeys
suddenly fail to trigger macros. This new feature should automatically give Macro Express
first looks at the keystrokes thus preserving the use of Macro Express Hot Keys and ShortKeys.
In addition, because Macro Express properly passes on keystrokes through the chain of keyboard
hooks, other programs will still function properly.
- Included the "\" character in the set of valid ShortKey prefix keys
- Added option of additional punctuation keys such as . , : ; ? ! and - to be used as a suffix
key for a ShortKey. These characters will be replaced at the end of running the ShortKey.
This option is mainly for those who use ShortKeys as a simple text replacement in writing
documents.
- Added a ShortKey option which will allow the upper case setting of the first letter in
the ShortKey dictate that the first character in the macro will be upper case (if the first
thing in the macro is a character). This option is mainly for those doing simple text replacement
in documents and facilitates an easy way to capitalize the replacement text in instances
where it needs to be such as the beginning of a sentence.
- Added an option to instruct the ShortKey not to erase itself after being typed in. Normally,
backspaces are issued to remove the ShortKey from the screen before the macro is executed.
When using ShortKeys in non text usage programs, this may not be desirable to have "backspaces"
issued. For example, using a ShortKey in Internet Explorer where focus is not on an edit
box, will cause the "back" button to be pressed numerous times due to the backspaces
being issued. This option will prevent this from happening.
- Added a limited text import facility. Macro Express can now import macros from a text file
given that the text conforms to the proper format. Via this mechanism, Hot Key or ShortKey
macros can be imported along with a Nickname and the macro content. This feature allows another
program to generate macros in a text format so that they can be imported into Macro Express.
We specifically added this capability for our own in-house use and will expand its capabilities
if demand arises.
